The term CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action in English) refers to a process aimed at identifying, correcting and preventing non-conformities in products and processes.

Definition and objectives

Corrective action consists of eliminating the causes of detected non-conformities (reactive action), while preventive action seeks to avoid the appearance of potential non-conformities (proactive action).

The objective of the CAPA process is to continually improve the quality of products and processes by combining these two types of actions.

Benefits of CAPAs

Often linked to a QMS, this action plan allows: • Improving product quality • Reduction of waste and costs • Compliance with standards
